The Woord Products Division's main laboratories are in Vancouver, British Columbia
and the other in Quebec City, in the province of Quebec (see our
history). We also have satellite centres in most of the other
provinces in Canada (see contact-us
for more information).
Our purpose is to provide technological support to the wood
products sector. In doing so, we have developed an extensive network
of partnerships with companies, governments, industry associations,
universities and other research organisations. Over the years, our
expertise has also led to an ever-increasing number of international
collaborations.
The roles of the two main research facilities in Vancouver and
Quebec are essentially the same. Geographically, Vancouver covers
Western Canada from the Manitoba-Ontario border on to British Columbia,
whereas the Quebec laboratory covers the Eastern part of the country.
These virtual boundaries are only meant to maximise efficiency in
delivering regionally adapted solutions and technology transfer.
In fact, FPInnovations members from all provinces as well as those from
the United States have immediate access to all scientists, industry
advisors and managers, East and West.
