analytical services FPInnovations can provide
you with technical support, on a fee-for-service basis, in the chemical
aspects of wood preservation/ protection, wood extractives and atmospheric
emissions issued from wood products. Our specialists can address
your specific needs related to the chemistry of wood and related
products.
The following wood preservation/protection analytical services
are performed at the Western laboratory.
- DDAC
- Borate Salts
- Triazoles (Propiconazole, Tebuconazole)
- Heavy metals (CCA, ACQ, ACZA, Iron)
At the Eastern laboratory environmental services are provided for
volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and formaldehyde.
To perform these services, we have state of the art equipment:
- Large scale extraction (20L)
- FTIR
- UV/Vis with colour analysis software
- HPLC
- UV detection
- Fluorescence
- Evaporative light scattering
- Diode array
- Large Chamber for formaldehyde measurements
- Small Chamber for VOC measurements
The Western laboratory specialises in the chemical analysis of
wood extractives from the Western softwood species:
- Western red cedar
- Western hemlock
- Yellow cypress
- Pine
- Douglas fir
