our R&D planning

Industry and government members play a key role in the Wood Products Division’s research
and development program planning process. This approach is meant
to ensure that our research and technical services remain relevant
and strategic.
Our operations are governed by:
- The Board of Directors
approves the strategic direction and the full budget of the National
Research Program for the corporation.
- The Division Steering Committee
(DSC) is a committee of the Board that brings
a national and strategic perspective to the National Research
Program, reviews industry issues and program balance, and makes
recommendations to the Board.
- The Program
Advisory Committees (PACs) report to the NRPC
and focus their attention on the following program areas: Resource
Assessment, Lumber Manufacturing (includes Drying and Protection),
Composites Products, Value-added Products, and Building Systems.
- Project Liaisons
are representatives of member companies and governments whose
role is to provide direct guidance to scientists on specific research
projects.
- Our management and research
staff who interact closely with the liaisons,
PACs, NRPC and Board, consider all input provided by members and
respond with innovative solutions. Where appropriate, research
staff also initiates task groups to bring in outside expertise,
perspectives and advice regarding specific challenges facing the
wood products sector.
