nanotechnologies for wood products

presentation > history

In 2005, Bernard Riedl from Laval University and Pierre Blanchet from FPInnovations commenced work to improve the properties of high-solid-content varnishes for the wood flooring industry. The project put them into contact with representatives of the coatings industry and led to increased collaborations and the implementation of other projects on water-based UV coatings and on industrial and architectural tints. The Wood Products Nanotech Group came into existence in September 2007 under Pierre Blanchet’s initiative. As a branch of FPInnovations - Forintek Division, the group has amassed a portfolio of nanotech projects whose leaders come either from the Composite Products or the Value-Added Products Department.
