Over the years, our Wood Drying specialists have developed key technologies, including software packages, to maximise value for the wood products industry. These tools include:

  • OASiS - a software designed to assess the economic impact of various lumber sorting and drying strategies, and to optimise current practices.
  • Kiln Monitoring System - a system to examine potential energy savings in drying operation.
  • Fir Detector - a system to segregate balsam fir lumber from mixed spruce-pine-fir mill production, to optimise drying strategies.
  • Kiln Operator's Manual suited for Eastern Canada species (order from Special Publications).
  • Lumber drying correspondence course theory and practices for kiln operators and managers.
